During 2017 this ‘independent’ hostelry has been thoughtfully transformed from a traditional Lakeland ‘Inn’ to a contemporary Cumbrian Cafe/Terrace/Bar.
Now we’re ready, so please come and.... ‘be our guest, be our guest; put our service to the test’!
We’ve also become a ‘boutique B&B’ conveniently situated on a busy crossroads, just outside Broughton in Furness on the A595. Ample parking in a secure, floodlit , large private car park.
A perfect stop-over for long weekend retreats or longer residential business trips.
The Cumbrian Coastal Way passes our door and many popular cycle routes pass this vantage point, high on the hill.
Ideal for a pause to re-fuel and recover.
Our core menu consists of proper foodie classics massively complemented by an imaginative specials board.
Real food for real folk.
As a ‘free’ house we offer an eclectic and expanding range of Cumbrian brewed craft beers, IPA’s, lager, ciders and refreshing coolers. Add to this our easy-drinking house wines, chilled fizz, occasional cock-tails as well as seasonal pitchers of alcoholic thirst quenchers and an astounding selection of non alcoholic sports drinks.
We’re hoping to impress the impressionable.
Breath-taking location: We’re at the gateway to the Western fells and Lake District, on the crest of a hill with unsurpassed views of Cumbria’s coast.
Amazing natural landscapes: There are plenty of great walks in the vicinity making our destination popular for dog owners and outdoorsy folk.
Unsurpassed views: The Duddon estuary, river valleys, pasture and woodland all provide an incredibly rich habitat for wild birds, abundant wild flowers, and many wild animals. Come and share it with us.
Heritage: We’re on the doorstep of a thriving historic ‘Charter’ town, complete with market square and stocks to lock up the bad’uns, a public billiards room, a charming chiming town clock, an ancient church and beautiful grave-yard, the region’s annual agricultural show and 5 local pubs serving real ale and scrumptious food. Should we mention our famous Lake District poets, story tellers, philanthropists, daring speed-boat racers, marvellous miniature railways, fishing villages, real castles and court jesters, old mills with forgotten waterwheels? Or the beaches, the mountains, the stone circles....the wake-boarding, the thriving village pub cricket competition
